Fun, sun and lots of great runs at our August Summer Bash this past weekend! Our wonderful judges, Lorne & Janine kept us happy with lots of great encouragement and terrific courses. Thanks for all who came to play with us at beautiful Blue Heron Park. We'll be posting some pictures soon!
Our October Howl-o-Ween trail will be opening on September 5 so stay tuned!

ScallyWaggs August Sanctioned NADAC trial opens for registration on Saturday, July 5. Special judges Janine and Lorne McGee are joining us from Calgary... Fun Trial News!
ScallyWaggs July 5 Fun Trial will be held
at Shannick Farm (where we did that last ones)
and will feature 2 runs of Regular and
2 runs of Jumpers. Online entries will open Monday, June 9th. As
always, the pre-registration cost will be $25 for all four runs. Details and registration will be available on
the EVENTS page in just a few days! We hope
to see you there.

Summer Surf and
Turf trial! Scallywaggs' next sanctioned NADAC trial will be
August 15-17 and will be held at Blue Heron Park in Sidney, BC. We are
pleased to welcome Lorne McGee from Calgary, AB as our judge for the event.
This will be our reggae and surf music spectacular event so break out your
sunblock and hawaiian shirts. We may even sip Pina Coladas ringside!

Our next fun trial date had to be moved - conflicts
with Father's Day and the AAC Regional Championships suggested a new date
might be better. So we're going to go for
Saturday July 5 at Shannick Farm (location to be confirmed)!

It's all over but the clean-up! ScallyWaggs Spring NADAC Trial is
over and done. What a blast! The weather was (mostly) great and
we ran over 700 runs this weekend. Thank you to all of you who came
out rain or shine to play with the Pirates!
It was so cool to have so many wonderful vendors. We were lucky enough to have Four photographers come out at various times this weekend. Click here for more information about photos...
We raised $262 for Daphne's Meg's recovery fun! Thank you all so much for helping in our first charity draw.
Thank you all for your support! We're so thrilled to have so many new handlers trying NADAC with their dogs. We're hoping to have a fun trial in June so stay tuned!

The
ScallyWaggs Spring Fun Trial was a blast! We hooped, we tunnelled
and we laughed... Thanks to everyone who attended for making it such a
success. I think we know our work is cut out for us in Hoopers!!

NADAC Trial is OPEN - ScallyWaggs will be hosting our Spring NADAC Trial on
April 25-27 at the Saanich Fairgrounds
with judge Janet Ooms of Calgary Alberta. Online
registration is OPEN
and premiums can be downloaded on our
Events page. It's our first outdoor
trial and you can expect all the music and piracy in addition to all that
fresh air and green grass!

Agility has set up an AAC Style Fun Trial
for Sunday March 9, 2008. Patti Wilson
writes: "Since Capital Comets trial filled so fast &
so many people wanted to play agility, I decided to host a fun match on
Sunday March 9 at Cottonwood Stables." Bravo to Patti and

Spring Scamper - The
ScallyWaggs Spring Fun Trial is now
open for entries. Join us for a
day of fun and friendship on March 2nd
from 8am to 5pm at Shannick Farm in Sidney. We will be introducing a
NEW
NADAC event - Hoopers. Hoopers is a game that uses
hula-hoops on stands for dogs to run through. The hoops are set at
ground level so there is no jumping involved. It's fast and fun and
tests your handling skills without worrying about knocked bars or contacts.
Online and mail-in entries are available on the Events
page. We hope to see you there!

Capital Comets has announced that the premium
for their March 7-9th "Spring Fling" AAC trial is now available. You
can access the premium and entry forms on the Capital Comets website by
clicking
HERE. Entries open on January 15th and the Capital Comets site
advises:
"Entries
are to be sent via Canada Post only: no Express Post,
hand-delivered, faxed, emailed or couriered entries will be accepted.
Entries postmarked before January 15, 2008 will be returned unopened."
Capital Comets trials are always popular so don't delay in getting
your entries in if you want to attend!

some new questions as part of the FAQ that highlight some of the new rules

NADAC News
- Some changes are in store for 2008 according to the NADAC office.
Standard course times for Jumpers, Touch n Go,
and Weavers have increased slightly to give
more time to all dogs at all levels and all jump
heights. Small and medium dogs will also get a little more time
in regular and Tunnelers.
Also, the success of the distance challenges in the Chances class will now
replace the distance challenge line in Regular.
There will no longer be a distance challenge in any regular runs.
NADAC continually monitors and reviews it's rules implementations to try to
provide a fun and fair competitive enviornment. These changes reflect
a year's worth of observation and feedback from NADAC competitors like you.
From the ScallyWaggs point of view, both of the changes make a LOT of sense
! Change is good...

Happy New Year to all of our agility friends!
Typically January and February are pretty lean months on The Island as
far as trials are concerned. We do have the DAWG
Steeplechase Trial on Friday, January 18th
and both online and paper entries are available. See the
DAWG website for
entry information. After that, there aren't any more trials until
March on the island. To tide you over, we suggest a couple of
interesting agility websites -
AgilityVision is
a site devoted to providing online video of agility runs from around the US
and Canada. Agility
Nerd is a site run by Steven Schwarz and is just a treasure trove of
articles, discussion, courses, equipment designs, and basically all things
agility. Have fun and enjoy the break!

Happy Holidays to all our friends in the
agility community. We encourage you to take some time during this
holiday season to appreciate all of the things our four-footed companions
bring into our lives beyond the bounds of the agility ring. From all
the Pirates, warm wishes for a happy, healthy, and safe holiday season.
We will be keeping our events page up to date with the latest information on trials on Vancouver Island and look for a new Agility Resources page with information on Vancouver Island agility clubs and trainers coming in the new year.

Snowed-Out! Our december 3rd Fun Trial
was cut short due to the snow and very "wintery" weather last sunday.
ScallyWaggs would like to thank all of
you who braved the elements and came out to play with us
anyway. Extra special thanks for all of the help and support! We
can't do these events without the help of our volunteers and you were all
just terrific and your assistance means the world to us. All of the
ScallyWaggs want to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season. And
we look forward to telling you about our next Fun Trial (sometime in
February) early in the new year!

Avid is hosting a Fun
Match on Saturday, Oct. 20th at their Central Saanich facility.
The fee is $5 per run. This is a terrific opportunity to get your dog
out and practice for that up coming trial!

AVID has announced their annual Rememberance
Day AAC trial on Nov. 9-11, 2007 at the Saanich Fairgrounds Agriplex in
Saanichton BC (near Victoria). AVID is offering 3 rounds of
Steeplechase at this year's event which also includes 2 rounds of Standard
and 1 round each of Gamblers, Snooker, Jumpers, and Team. Come out and

Our first summer fun trial, judging from the
emails we have received, was a rousing success. The day just seemed to
fly by and everyone, dogs included, had a marvelous time. A big THANK
YOU to all who supported us including our friends at Pets West, Eagle Pack
food, and Natural Balance. And the biggest THANK YOU of all to all of
you who came out to play for your support and for making it a day to
remember!

ScallyWaggs are all about promoting agility on
Vancouver Island. So we have decided to list as many clubs and
trainers as we can so that we can grow the sport of agility to include
anyone who wants to play. Agility promotes great owner/dog
relationships and it's an excellent way to get out and be with others who
love their dogs.
